Our head guide, Derek, joined The Ledges in the spring of 2001. Born and raised on the Miramichi, he has been an avid fisherman and hunter from a very young age. Having been a guide for over a decade, Derek has turned his love into a livelihood. His other love is his family, his supportive wife, a beautiful young daughter, and 3 dogs, 2 of which are also avid hunters!
Rodney “dryfly” Colford
Rodney is a third generation salmon fishing guide and fly tier on the South West Miramichi River. He has been guiding salmon anglers for over 27 years. Rodney is an accomplished Spey and one handed rod caster who has the opportunity to fish with world class Spey casting champions as well as with the finest fly fishermen in the world but overall, his favourite fishing buddies are his daughter Laura (10) and son Zachary(12) Rodney publishes a fishing report weekly in the Times & Transcript.
Lloyd Lyons
Lloyd has been fishing since he was knee high to a grasshopper and he has been guiding for Atlantic salmon on the Miramichi River for 47 years. Lloyd says his father and 5 brothers are all fishermen so fishing is in his blood. The part of guiding Lloyd enjoys most is meeting a variety of people and helping new anglers catch their first silver salmon with a fly-rod.
Andrew Anthony
Andrew has been guiding at the ledges Inn for salmon, woodcock, grouse and pheasants for over a decade. He enjoys being in the outdoors with guest who share his passion for salmon and trout fishing as well as upland bird hunting. He and his wife Tammy and his two daughters Kaitlyn and Maegan moved permanently to the area 3 years ago so he can continue to pursue his career in guiding.
Wesley Curtis:
Mountain Channel is very proud to have Wesley Curtis as its head guide in Grey Rapids. Wesley has been guiding on the Miramichi and the Cains River for over 53 years. He started guiding salmon anglers when he was sixteen year old and has been guiding ever since. Wesley started in career as a guide for Granville Stewart in Quarryville. Over the years, he guided for a number of outfitters on the river. For a while, he guided for “uncle Tom’s Cabins” (Mountain Channel, as we know it). At the time, it was owned by Tom & Bill Boyd of Fredericton. After guiding for other camps for a while, Wesley returned to Mountain Channel and has been there for over 20 years. Wesley is loved by all our guests who appreciate his positive attitude and his wealth of experience guiding for salmon.
Boyd Curtis:
Boyd is a brother to head guide Wesley Curtis. He is a third generation guide on the Miramichi River. He is the Son of Roy and Edna Curtis who worked at Ted William’s fishing lodge for 34 years. Boyd joined Mountain Channel 5 years ago. He provides Mountain Channel guests his undivided attention and advice for catching salmon. He knows what it takes to catch fish and is sure to share his experience with our guests.
