River report for The Miramichi River in the Doaktown area as of September 6th. Well we finally
got some much needed rain from hurricane Earl and looks like some more
rain and showers this week. When it was all said and done we received
about an 8 inch raise in water and with the cooler nights the water
temperature was in the mid 60's yesterday and I expect it to be down
around 60 today as it is only 6 (42) degrees when I arrived this
morning. It wasn't as much of a raise as I would've liked but it was
enough to turn the fish on, lastnight we had 4 fishermen on the water
and hooked 9 fish, landing 6 and had many more raises and lookers. The
fish that we hooked were all very scrapy and full of energy two of the
fish were in the 16 lb range. At Mountain Channel they hooked a couple
fish yesterday morning but it picked up lastnight and they got into
good numbers of fish also. With this raise in water this should get the
fall run started and some fresh fish moving into the system.
Tight Lines!!!
